Another year has passed.
This past year may have been one of the best years of your life! You might have achieved some of your major goals, lived in the moment more, made new friendships, started a new job, or just simply experienced more of God and all that He has to offer you.
But for others, you might have been on the other end of the spectrum for 2019. Maybe your year was one of the toughest you’ve experienced. This year may have brought you an array of difficult challenges and circumstances. 2019 might of been the year that you experienced loss. Loss of a family member, job, house, friend, or even trust in God.
No matter where you land on the 2019 spectrum, whether it was the best or the worst. Something we must know, understand, and most importantly embrace is that God was the same this year as He will be next year.
No matter the circumstances, no matter the situation. God is the same each year, each month, each week, and each day.
This is a celebratory fact! Thank you, God that you will love me the same last year whenever I went weeks without even thinking about you. Thank you, God, that you will show me the same grace next year whenever I get mad at the people on social media for being so rude. Thank you, God, for being the same.
Maybe you’re thinking, I can’t have God be the same as He was last year. He didn’t heal my heart. He didn’t bless me with the promotion. He didn’t spark a new fire in my heart, He didn’t answer my prayers. I need Him to be different this year.
Thankfully, God’s love for you wasn’t and isn’t determined by your circumstances or emotions!
God remains the same, even when our circumstances and feelings tell us the exact opposite. We can’t work our way to God, and we for sure can’t work our way away from God. He remains the same.
8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8
In conclusion: God loves you the same. God delights in showing mercy the same. God extends forgiveness the same. God cares for you, the same way He has since the beginning of creation. Don’t let Satan convince you that any of God’s perfect character traits are flawed or dependent on what you do or even how you feel. Know for certain that God will continue to be the most stable thing that you can dream of. Keep resting in the truth that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
