We, the children of your love, mercy, grace, and sacrifice, in order to form a more perfect reflection of your image, establish that we will prioritize equality because it is a priority in your heart. Embrace peace, fully from your Word, and not our relative “truth”. Take up our full armor of God to fight against the schemes of Satan. Establish that equality will be a priority for all people because your Son sought that in His 33 years of life. And we will fight to secure the blessings of liberty and freedom for each of your children without limitations.
Followers of Jesus, Our Savior, deserves better from us. What will 2021 look like for you? Will you have stayed in your comfort zone and played it safe? Will you have engaged with more people who don’t look like you or have the same socio-economic status? Will you take active steps to pursue that passion God has put on your heart?
Here’s what I want for myself. Maybe you can relate.
I want to embrace my identity in Jesus more than my political leanings, race, gender, social status, or titles.
I want to love my neighbor that opposes almost everything that I believe in just as passionately as I would someone who I would call my best friend.
Through my conversations with unbelievers and those who have left the church, I want to spark a belief in them that hope is not dead, but our hope is alive.
I want the gospel of Jesus to go forward from my mouth with vigor and confidence.
I want my social media to be saturated in love and healthy dialogue.
I want equality and justice for each person. The unborn. The marginalized. The black and brown community. The police officers. The hurt. The scared. The anxious. The depressed.
Ultimately I want to glorify Jesus with my energy, thoughts, and actions.
Followers of Jesus. We are equipped for this fight. Whether it’s protests turning into riots, social media seeming overly divisive, not knowing what to count as true, or losing hope in those that identify as Christians.
Don’t ever doubt that we are equipped.
Disunity will not win because Jesus has already won.
For a more perfect reflection of our Lord and Savior, let us commit to unconditional love to each person. Every day. And the days we fail, Jesus, thank you in advance for future grace.
